The Verulam Explorer Unit

The Verulam Explorer Scout Unit was started in January 2004 with 10 Explorers and at the end of 2008, has 30 Explorers. The Unit feeds from the 1st, 4th, 17th and Park Street Troops and from outside Scouting.

We have had Summer Camps in the Lake District, South Devon, Cornwall and in 2008, South Wales where the activities were Coasteering, Gorge Walking, Mountain Biking and Surfing.

We have a varied and exciting programme planned and run by the Explorers and Leaders together.

In 2008 we said goodbye to our founder members and wish them well at University and hope to see them stay with the 1st as Fellowship members and maybe future Leaders.

The Explorers are for boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 18.

The Unit meets every Thursday at the 1st St. Albans (The Wadley Hut) on the Watford Road at 7.30 pm until 9.30 pm and the leaders are Andy Culling, Iain Darvell and Jim Taylor.
